Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina was the costliest and of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United Sates. In the aftermath of the destruction, DMS placed nine systems in Louisiana alone to provide temporary radiology services.

Midwest Flooding
Columbus Regional Hospital
Columbus, Indiana
June 2008

Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana, experienced an estimated $180M in damages when massive local flooding filled the hospital basement and part of the first floor became inundated.

Working with leaders from Columbus Regional Hospital and in partnership with Philips, DMS was able to quickly execute a well-rehearsed drill to determine needs, and ultimately, bring on site a CT and MRI systems to their temporary complex.

Georgia Tornadoes
Sumter Regional Hospital
Americus, Georgia
March 2007

Not only did several tornadoes cause millions of dollars in damage to the town of Americus, Georgia, but the region’s only hospital, Sumter Regional Hospital and it’s Imaging Center were totally destroyed.

Through the quick response and experience of Philips and DMS, the team was able to assess the damage, determine which relief efforts were needed immediately, and a CT system was on the road and delivered to the disaster site.

Hurricane Gustav
Louisiana State University
Houma, Louisiana
September 2008

Hurricane Gustav, the second major hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, entered the United States on the Louisiana coast and left nearly 1.5 million people without power.

Through our relationship as the preferred vendor with Amerinet, DMS was able to work with the GPO and local facility after it was determined that they did not have CT imaging capabilities.

Within 48 hours, DMS delivered a CT system and put it into operation at the customer's temporary location.
